Climate change in the Lake District

Alfred Wainwright said ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing’. Was he being curmudgeonly, or is there more than a grain of truth in that well-used saying?! Cumbria and the Lake District are affected by the north Atlantic drift which, together with the mountainous landscape make this one of the wettest parts of the UK with 2000mm+ precipitation annually. But climate change means that weather in the Lake District is definitely changing, with hotter dryer summers (which dries out our peat bogs) and wetter, warmer winters and more erratic weather patterns. https://www.outdoor-learning.org/Good-Practice/Good-Practice/Climate-Change

Home from home...

This winter, we have split the two large dormitories into smaller bedrooms, making the centre feel much cosier and easier to settle the children in the evening. We are working to make the centre more flexible, homely, quieter and relaxed… lovely!
